This is not the department's website. It is an unsolicited design concept built by Frontline Web Designs for Newport Center Volunteer Fire Department, who did not ask for it, have not paid for it, and have not endorsed it. We are not affiliated with the department. If you are looking for the department's own emergency information, contact them directly rather than relying on this page.

A website concept for Newport Center Volunteer Fire Department

Built around the department's actual year: the calls, the March town meeting where the budget is decided, and the October open house.

Newport Center, Vermont  ·  Volunteer  ·  Built to WCAG 2.1 AA

What the concept covers

  • The year on call
  • Calling the warden before you light anything
  • March, when the town decides the budget
  • October and the open house
  • Every member is a volunteer
  • How to reach the department

Why this one is built the way it is

A department whose funding is decided at town meeting has one page that matters in March, and the site is arranged so that page is easy to point people at.

Accessibility

This build is made to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, which is the standard the Department of Justice names in its Title II rule for public entities. Contrast is measured rather than judged by eye, every control works from the keyboard, the focus ring is left on, images carry real alt text and motion honours the reduce-motion setting.

Whether that rule actually applies to a given department is a separate question with a real answer, and it is not always yes. Here is how to work out whether it applies to yours.

Is your department on the board?

We build these before anyone asks. If your department is on the board, the site is finished and it is yours to keep.
