This is not the department's website. It is an unsolicited design concept built by Frontline Web Designs for Glover Volunteer Fire Department, who did not ask for it, have not paid for it, and have not endorsed it. We are not affiliated with the department. If you are looking for the department's own emergency information, contact them directly rather than relying on this page.

A website concept for Glover Volunteer Fire Department

The whole site leads with recruiting, because that is what the department actually needs. The first thing a visitor reads is that Glover needs volunteers, not a mission statement.

Glover, Vermont  ·  Volunteer  ·  Built to WCAG 2.1 AA

What the concept covers

  • Why the department needs volunteers
  • One station and the ground it covers
  • Two routes onto the roster
  • How to support the crew without joining
  • Emergency information first, everything else second

Why this one is built the way it is

The emergency information sits above everything else on the page, because the person arriving in a hurry is the one who matters most.

Accessibility

This build is made to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, which is the standard the Department of Justice names in its Title II rule for public entities. Contrast is measured rather than judged by eye, every control works from the keyboard, the focus ring is left on, images carry real alt text and motion honours the reduce-motion setting.

Whether that rule actually applies to a given department is a separate question with a real answer, and it is not always yes. Here is how to work out whether it applies to yours.

Is your department on the board?

We build these before anyone asks. If your department is on the board, the site is finished and it is yours to keep.
